Padma (Ganges) cruise
Padma River
The Padma (Bengali: পদ্মা) is a major river in Bangladesh. It is the main distributary of the Ganges, flowing generally southeast for 356 kilometers to its confluence with the Meghna River near the Bay of Bengal. Rivers are the most important geographical features in Bangladesh, and the rivers created the vast alluvial delta. It's been known that the outflow of water from Bangladesh is the third highest in the world, after the Amazon and the Congo systems.
The Padma enters Bangladesh from India near Nawabganj and meets the Jamuna (Bengali: যমুনা Jamuna) near Aricha and retains its name, but finally meets with the Meghna (Bengali: মেঘনা) near Chandpur and adopts the name "Meghna" before flowing into the Bay of Bengal.
